In Peru and especially in the north, working with children at risk since 2001, attend weekly over six hundred children and adolescents and their families in our weekly programs. We have two prevention programs that are conducted during the year, one of prevention of sexual abuse of children in state schools and through which more than 2,500 children are treated each year and a free children's health campaign with donations of medicines in which serve over 800 children.
Children´s Home The Nuevos Pasos Children's Home is an open heart, with a clear vocation to family and social reintegration, with goals very marked, so that children are aware of their strengths and all the opportunities available to them.
We cater for children with different problems, abandoned children, victims of sexual abuse or parental neglect, in a situation of extreme poverty or orphanhood.
We work to promote resilience with a good team of counselors, psychologists, teachers, and several donors that nourish us with his experience and good work. In the tutorials we apply the instrumental enrichment program for improvement of cognitive functions developed by Reuven Feuerstein.
It is through this area, we hope every day, we build relationships, we are partakers of the problems of children and inducers of possible solutions, always understanding what our environment, availing ourselves of the social fabric that surrounds us, not creating dependency and always, but always willing to lend the necessary assistance.
We offer children and their families health care in cases where the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) has no coverage and that, given current conditions, are many. We process their hospitalizations required according to need or to promote placement in Lima if needed.
Also from the area of social action, provided assistance in obtaining birth certificates and registration (birth records) untimely, a problem affecting a large sector of the child population.
We will also schooling for those children who for their problems can not attend school and reescolarizamos teenagers who left school before completion.
The Children´s Room are one of the programs that we have to change the reality of children in extreme poverty. These are designed not only to deal with malnutrition and hunger eaters are designed to give children a comprehensive solution. For this reason, different activities, such as schools, parents, school enrichment, health campaigns, donations of clothing, food, culture of peace, teaching values and virtues, etc. games. We have also begun work to improve the cognitive functions of children with learning difficulties. The inclusion of children with special educational needs is also one of our priorities. The first room was opened on November 25 from 2002, in Peru we have opened four children´s room, three of which are managed entirely by Nuevos Pasos giving a nutritious meal to over 140 children in extreme poverty.
Started as a Wawa Wasi (house of the child "in Quechua). He is currently a kindergarten serving the entire population under six years of the slums of San Carlos in Laredo, an area of extreme poverty, lacking basic services. With a building of 450 m2 offers the population a school that prepares children from infancy to school success. The school shares space with one of the soup kitchens offering all children in kindergarten a nutritious meal daily.
The prevention of child sexual abuse is a need for the Association includes as a priority. The P.A.R.E. Program is offered to area schools with the aim of helping children, families and schools to combat sexual abuse, one of the worst and most hidden childhood living flogging.
The incidence of sexual abuse is very high in our environment. The program offered by Nuevos Pasos presents the problem of sexual abuse of children and adolescents in a playful and adapted to reality and the age of minors.
Sexual abuse prevention program in a four-hour aimed at children and adolescents with a workshop with parents and teachers and the monitoring required in cases detected are the basic content of this program that aims to priority to contribute to the reduction of this social scourge.

Life Workshops are recreational activities we do in the most disadvantaged sectors of the city to children at high risk. They are playful and training programs where we help children and adolescents to develop processes that enable them to build resilient future worthy and achievable.
Work with your family through schools to parents, reinforcing the work we do in each of the eight workshops of Life currently operating in the city and we serve over 350 children.
